Sources & method

Every answer on Burhan rests on the Quran and on authentic hadith of the Prophet ﷺ. Classical tafsir (Quran commentary) appears only to explain what a verse means, never as a source of rulings on its own.

Nothing is quoted from memory. Every verse, hadith and tafsir passage you see is pulled automatically from published, verified datasets, and every card links to an independent source (quran.com or sunnah.com) so you can check it yourself.

The Arabic text is the Uthmani script of the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Quran (Hafs recitation). Translations are always published works by named translators; the Quran is never machine translated on Burhan.

Only hadith graded sahih (authentic) or hasan (good) appear anywhere on Burhan. The rule is applied to the data itself, so a weak hadith cannot be cited even by mistake:

• Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim are included in full, as accepted by scholarly consensus.
• Sunan Abi Dawud, Jami' at-Tirmidhi, Sunan an-Nasa'i and Sunan Ibn Majah: a hadith is included only if Shaykh al-Albani graded it sahih or hasan (or, where he gave no grade, Shu'ayb al-Arna'ut or Zubair Ali Za'i).
• Muwatta Malik: only narrations of the Prophet ﷺ graded sahih or hasan by Salim al-Hilali.
• Statements of Companions or later generations (mawquf, maqtu'), and anything any grader called fabricated, are excluded.
• When graders disagree about an included hadith, the card says so and lists every grading.

Answers are compiled with the help of AI, using only the verified texts shown on each page. Every entry is checked automatically before the site is published: each reference must exist, each hadith must pass the grading rules above, and each claim in the explanation must point to a numbered piece of evidence. A second, independent review checks that the texts really say what the answer claims and that scholarly positions are represented fairly.

Where the four schools or leading scholars differ, the answer says so in Where scholars differ, and names the main positions.

• No fatwas. Burhan shows the evidence and how scholars have understood it. For your own situation, ask a qualified scholar you trust.
• No weak or fabricated hadith, however popular.
• No speculation about the unseen: no dates for the Hour, no naming modern people as figures of the end times.
• No stretched "miracles". The Science Showcase applies four strict tests, and the claims that fail are explained on the Myths page instead.
