  1. Quran Adh-Dhaariyat · 51:49

    Of all things Allah created two mates, so that we may remember.

    وَمِن كُلِّ شَيۡءٍ خَلَقۡنَا زَوۡجَيۡنِ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَذَكَّرُونَ ۝٤٩

    And of all things We created two mates; perhaps you will remember

  2. Quran Yaseen · 36:36

    Allah created all pairs, from what the earth grows, from people, and from what they do not know.

    سُبۡحَٰنَ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ ٱلۡأَزۡوَٰجَ كُلَّهَا مِمَّا تُنۢبِتُ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَمِنۡ أَنفُسِهِمۡ وَمِمَّا لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ ۝٣٦

    Exalted is He who created all pairs - from what the earth grows and from themselves and from that which they do not know

  3. Quran Ar-Ra'd · 13:3

    From all fruits Allah made two mates.

    وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِي مَدَّ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَجَعَلَ فِيهَا رَوَٰسِيَ وَأَنۡهَٰرࣰ اۖ وَمِن كُلِّ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ جَعَلَ فِيهَا زَوۡجَيۡنِ ٱثۡنَيۡنِۖ يُغۡشِي ٱلَّيۡلَ ٱلنَّهَارَۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتࣲ لِّقَوۡمࣲ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ ۝٣

    And it is He who spread the earth and placed therein firmly set mountains and rivers; and from all of the fruits He made therein two mates; He causes the night to cover the day. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought

  4. Quran Taa-Haa · 20:53

    Rain produces pairs (azwaj) of various plants.

    ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ مَهۡدࣰ ا وَسَلَكَ لَكُمۡ فِيهَا سُبُلࣰ ا وَأَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءࣰ فَأَخۡرَجۡنَا بِهِۦٓ أَزۡوَٰجࣰ ا مِّن نَّبَاتࣲ شَتَّىٰ ۝٥٣

    [It is He] who has made for you the earth as a bed [spread out] and inserted therein for you roadways and sent down from the sky, rain and produced thereby categories of various plants

  5. Quran Ash-Shu'araa · 26:7

    Look at the earth and how much of every noble kind has grown in it.

    أَوَلَمۡ يَرَوۡاْ إِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ كَمۡ أَنۢبَتۡنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوۡجࣲ كَرِيمٍ ۝٧

    Did they not look at the earth - how much We have produced therein from every noble kind

  6. Quran Luqman · 31:10

    Rain makes every noble kind of plant grow on earth.

    خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ بِغَيۡرِ عَمَدࣲ تَرَوۡنَهَاۖ وَأَلۡقَىٰ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ رَوَٰسِيَ أَن تَمِيدَ بِكُمۡ وَبَثَّ فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ دَآبَّةࣲۚ وَأَنزَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءࣰ فَأَنۢبَتۡنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوۡجࣲ كَرِيمٍ ۝١٠

    He created the heavens without pillars that you see and has cast into the earth firmly set mountains, lest it should shift with you, and dispersed therein from every creature. And We sent down rain from the sky and made grow therein [plants] of every noble kind

  7. Quran Az-Zukhruf · 43:12

    Allah created all the pairs (species).

    وَٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ ٱلۡأَزۡوَٰجَ كُلَّهَا وَجَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡفُلۡكِ وَٱلۡأَنۡعَٰمِ مَا تَرۡكَبُونَ ۝١٢

    And who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount

  8. Quran Al-An'aam · 6:95

    Allah splits the grain and the date stone, bringing the living from the dead.

    ۞إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ فَالِقُ ٱلۡحَبِّ وَٱلنَّوَىٰۖ يُخۡرِجُ ٱلۡحَيَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمَيِّتِ وَمُخۡرِجُ ٱلۡمَيِّتِ مِنَ ٱلۡحَيِّۚ ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُؤۡفَكُونَ ۝٩٥

    Indeed, Allah is the cleaver of grain and date seeds. He brings the living out of the dead and brings the dead out of the living. That is Allah; so how are you deluded

  9. Quran Al-An'aam · 6:99

    Rain produces greenery, grain in layers, palms, vines, olives and pomegranates; look at the fruit as it ripens.

    وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءࣰ فَأَخۡرَجۡنَا بِهِۦ نَبَاتَ كُلِّ شَيۡءࣲ فَأَخۡرَجۡنَا مِنۡهُ خَضِرࣰ ا نُّخۡرِجُ مِنۡهُ حَبࣰّ ا مُّتَرَاكِبࣰ ا وَمِنَ ٱلنَّخۡلِ مِن طَلۡعِهَا قِنۡوَانࣱ دَانِيَةࣱ وَجَنَّٰتࣲ مِّنۡ أَعۡنَابࣲ وَٱلزَّيۡتُونَ وَٱلرُّمَّانَ مُشۡتَبِهࣰ ا وَغَيۡرَ مُتَشَٰبِهٍۗ ٱنظُرُوٓاْ إِلَىٰ ثَمَرِهِۦٓ إِذَآ أَثۡمَرَ وَيَنۡعِهِۦٓۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكُمۡ لَأٓيَٰتࣲ لِّقَوۡمࣲ يُؤۡمِنُونَ ۝٩٩

    And it is He who sends down rain from the sky, and We produce thereby the growth of all things. We produce from it greenery from which We produce grains arranged in layers. And from the palm trees - of its emerging fruit are clusters hanging low. And [We produce] gardens of grapevines and olives and pomegranates, similar yet varied. Look at [each of] its fruit when it yields and [at] its ripening. Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe

  10. Quran Al-An'aam · 6:141

    Gardens trellised and untrellised, palms, crops, olives and pomegranates, similar yet different.

    ۞وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَنشَأَ جَنَّٰتࣲ مَّعۡرُوشَٰتࣲ وَغَيۡرَ مَعۡرُوشَٰتࣲ وَٱلنَّخۡلَ وَٱلزَّرۡعَ مُخۡتَلِفًا أُكُلُهُۥ وَٱلزَّيۡتُونَ وَٱلرُّمَّانَ مُتَشَٰبِهࣰ ا وَغَيۡرَ مُتَشَٰبِهࣲۚ كُلُواْ مِن ثَمَرِهِۦٓ إِذَآ أَثۡمَرَ وَءَاتُواْ حَقَّهُۥ يَوۡمَ حَصَادِهِۦۖ وَلَا تُسۡرِفُوٓاْۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِينَ ۝١٤١

    And He it is who causes gardens to grow, [both] trellised and untrellised, and palm trees and crops of different [kinds of] food and olives and pomegranates, similar and dissimilar. Eat of [each of] its fruit when it yields and give its due [zakah] on the day of its harvest. And be not excessive. Indeed, He does not like those who commit excess

  11. Quran Ar-Ra'd · 13:4

    Neighbouring plots watered with one water yet differing in the quality of their fruit.

    وَفِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ قِطَعࣱ مُّتَجَٰوِرَٰتࣱ وَجَنَّٰتࣱ مِّنۡ أَعۡنَٰبࣲ وَزَرۡعࣱ وَنَخِيلࣱ صِنۡوَانࣱ وَغَيۡرُ صِنۡوَانࣲ يُسۡقَىٰ بِمَآءࣲ وَٰحِدࣲ وَنُفَضِّلُ بَعۡضَهَا عَلَىٰ بَعۡضࣲ فِي ٱلۡأُكُلِۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتࣲ لِّقَوۡمࣲ يَعۡقِلُونَ ۝٤

    And within the land are neighboring plots and gardens of grapevines and crops and palm trees, [growing] several from a root or otherwise, watered with one water; but We make some of them exceed others in [quality of] fruit. Indeed in that are signs for a people who reason

  12. Quran Al-Hijr · 15:22

    Allah sends the fertilizing winds.

    وَأَرۡسَلۡنَا ٱلرِّيَٰحَ لَوَٰقِحَ فَأَنزَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءࣰ فَأَسۡقَيۡنَٰكُمُوهُ وَمَآ أَنتُمۡ لَهُۥ بِخَٰزِنِينَ ۝٢٢

    And We have sent the fertilizing winds and sent down water from the sky and given you drink from it. And you are not its retainers

  13. Quran Al-Hajj · 22:5

    Barren earth quivers and swells with rain and grows every beautiful kind.

    يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِن كُنتُمۡ فِي رَيۡبࣲ مِّنَ ٱلۡبَعۡثِ فَإِنَّا خَلَقۡنَٰكُم مِّن تُرَابࣲ ثُمَّ مِن نُّطۡفَةࣲ ثُمَّ مِنۡ عَلَقَةࣲ ثُمَّ مِن مُّضۡغَةࣲ مُّخَلَّقَةࣲ وَغَيۡرِ مُخَلَّقَةࣲ لِّنُبَيِّنَ لَكُمۡۚ وَنُقِرُّ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡحَامِ مَا نَشَآءُ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلࣲ مُّسَمࣰّ ى ثُمَّ نُخۡرِجُكُمۡ طِفۡلࣰ ا ثُمَّ لِتَبۡلُغُوٓاْ أَشُدَّكُمۡۖ وَمِنكُم مَّن يُتَوَفَّىٰ وَمِنكُم مَّن يُرَدُّ إِلَىٰٓ أَرۡذَلِ ٱلۡعُمُرِ لِكَيۡلَا يَعۡلَمَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ عِلۡمࣲ شَيۡـࣰٔ اۚ وَتَرَى ٱلۡأَرۡضَ هَامِدَةࣰ فَإِذَآ أَنزَلۡنَا عَلَيۡهَا ٱلۡمَآءَ ٱهۡتَزَّتۡ وَرَبَتۡ وَأَنۢبَتَتۡ مِن كُلِّ زَوۡجِۭ بَهِيجࣲ‏ ۝٥

    O People, if you should be in doubt about the Resurrection, then [consider that] indeed, We created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot, and then from a lump of flesh, formed and unformed - that We may show you. And We settle in the wombs whom We will for a specified term, then We bring you out as a child, and then [We develop you] that you may reach your [time of] maturity. And among you is he who is taken in [early] death, and among you is he who is returned to the most decrepit [old] age so that he knows, after [once having] knowledge, nothing. And you see the earth barren, but when We send down upon it rain, it quivers and swells and grows [something] of every beautiful kind

  14. Quran Yaseen · 36:33–35

    Dead earth brought to life with grain, palms, vines and springs that people did not make.

    وَءَايَةࣱ لَّهُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ ٱلۡمَيۡتَةُ أَحۡيَيۡنَٰهَا وَأَخۡرَجۡنَا مِنۡهَا حَبࣰّ ا فَمِنۡهُ يَأۡكُلُونَ ۝٣٣ وَجَعَلۡنَا فِيهَا جَنَّٰتࣲ مِّن نَّخِيلࣲ وَأَعۡنَٰبࣲ وَفَجَّرۡنَا فِيهَا مِنَ ٱلۡعُيُونِ ۝٣٤ لِيَأۡكُلُواْ مِن ثَمَرِهِۦ وَمَا عَمِلَتۡهُ أَيۡدِيهِمۡۚ أَفَلَا يَشۡكُرُونَ ۝٣٥

    33 And a sign for them is the dead earth. We have brought it to life and brought forth from it grain, and from it they eat 34 And We placed therein gardens of palm trees and grapevines and caused to burst forth therefrom some springs 35 That they may eat of His fruit. And their hands have not produced it, so will they not be grateful

  15. Quran Ar-Rahmaan · 55:10–12

    Fruit, palms with sheathed dates, grain with husks, and scented plants.

    وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلۡأَنَامِ ۝١٠ فِيهَا فَٰكِهَةࣱ وَٱلنَّخۡلُ ذَاتُ ٱلۡأَكۡمَامِ ۝١١ وَٱلۡحَبُّ ذُو ٱلۡعَصۡفِ وَٱلرَّيۡحَانُ ۝١٢

    10 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures 11 Therein is fruit and palm trees having sheaths [of dates] 12 And grain having husks and scented plants

  16. Quran Al-Waaqia · 56:63–65

    Is it you who makes the seed grow, or is it Allah?

    أَفَرَءَيۡتُم مَّا تَحۡرُثُونَ ۝٦٣ ءَأَنتُمۡ تَزۡرَعُونَهُۥٓ أَمۡ نَحۡنُ ٱلزَّٰرِعُونَ ۝٦٤ لَوۡ نَشَآءُ لَجَعَلۡنَٰهُ حُطَٰمࣰ ا فَظَلۡتُمۡ تَفَكَّهُونَ ۝٦٥

    63 And have you seen that [seed] which you sow 64 Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower 65 If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder

  17. Quran Abasa · 80:24–32

    Let man look at his food - rain, split earth, grain, grapes, olives, palms, fruit and pasture.

    فَلۡيَنظُرِ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِهِۦٓ ۝٢٤ أَنَّا صَبَبۡنَا ٱلۡمَآءَ صَبࣰّ ا ۝٢٥ ثُمَّ شَقَقۡنَا ٱلۡأَرۡضَ شَقࣰّ ا ۝٢٦ فَأَنۢبَتۡنَا فِيهَا حَبࣰّ ا ۝٢٧ وَعِنَبࣰ ا وَقَضۡبࣰ ا ۝٢٨ وَزَيۡتُونࣰ ا وَنَخۡلࣰ ا ۝٢٩ وَحَدَآئِقَ غُلۡبࣰ ا ۝٣٠ وَفَٰكِهَةࣰ وَأَبࣰّ ا ۝٣١ مَّتَٰعࣰ ا لَّكُمۡ وَلِأَنۡعَٰمِكُمۡ ۝٣٢

    24 Then let mankind look at his food 25 How We poured down water in torrents 26 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts] 27 And caused to grow within it grain 28 And grapes and herbage 29 And olive and palm trees 30 And gardens of dense shrubbery 31 And fruit and grass 32 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock

  18. Quran Al-Baqara · 2:261

    A grain that grows seven ears with a hundred grains each, as a parable for charity.

    مَّثَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ أَمۡوَٰلَهُمۡ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ كَمَثَلِ حَبَّةٍ أَنۢبَتَتۡ سَبۡعَ سَنَابِلَ فِي كُلِّ سُنۢبُلَةࣲ مِّاْئَةُ حَبَّةࣲۗ وَٱللَّهُ يُضَٰعِفُ لِمَن يَشَآءُۚ وَٱللَّهُ وَٰسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ ۝٢٦١

    The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing

  19. Quran Yaseen · 36:80

    Allah made fire for you from the green tree.

    ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلشَّجَرِ ٱلۡأَخۡضَرِ نَارࣰ ا فَإِذَآ أَنتُم مِّنۡهُ تُوقِدُونَ ۝٨٠

    [It is] He who made for you from the green tree, fire, and then from it you ignite

  20. Quran Al-Fath · 48:29

    A plant that sends out its shoot, strengthens and stands on its stalk, delighting the farmers.

    مُّحَمَّدࣱ رَّسُولُ ٱللَّهِۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ مَعَهُۥٓ أَشِدَّآءُ عَلَى ٱلۡكُفَّارِ رُحَمَآءُ بَيۡنَهُمۡۖ تَرَىٰهُمۡ رُكَّعࣰ ا سُجَّدࣰ ا يَبۡتَغُونَ فَضۡلࣰ ا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرِضۡوَٰنࣰ اۖ سِيمَاهُمۡ فِي وُجُوهِهِم مِّنۡ أَثَرِ ٱلسُّجُودِۚ ذَٰلِكَ مَثَلُهُمۡ فِي ٱلتَّوۡرَىٰةِۚ وَمَثَلُهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡإِنجِيلِ كَزَرۡعٍ أَخۡرَجَ شَطۡـَٔهُۥ فَـَٔازَرَهُۥ فَٱسۡتَغۡلَظَ فَٱسۡتَوَىٰ عَلَىٰ سُوقِهِۦ يُعۡجِبُ ٱلزُّرَّاعَ لِيَغِيظَ بِهِمُ ٱلۡكُفَّارَۗ وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ مِنۡهُم مَّغۡفِرَةࣰ وَأَجۡرًا عَظِيمَۢا ۝٢٩

    Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; and those with him are forceful against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves. You see them bowing and prostrating [in prayer], seeking bounty from Allah and [His] pleasure. Their mark is on their faces from the trace of prostration. That is their description in the Torah. And their description in the Gospel is as a plant which produces its offshoots and strengthens them so they grow firm and stand upon their stalks, delighting the sowers - so that Allah may enrage by them the disbelievers. Allah has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds among them forgiveness and a great reward

  21. Quran Ibrahim · 14:24–25

    A good word is like a good tree with firm roots and branches in the sky, fruiting in every season.

    أَلَمۡ تَرَ كَيۡفَ ضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلࣰ ا كَلِمَةࣰ طَيِّبَةࣰ كَشَجَرَةࣲ طَيِّبَةٍ أَصۡلُهَا ثَابِتࣱ وَفَرۡعُهَا فِي ٱلسَّمَآءِ ۝٢٤ تُؤۡتِيٓ أُكُلَهَا كُلَّ حِينِۭ بِإِذۡنِ رَبِّهَاۗ وَيَضۡرِبُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡأَمۡثَالَ لِلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ ۝٢٥

    24 Have you not considered how Allah presents an example, [making] a good word like a good tree, whose root is firmly fixed and its branches [high] in the sky 25 It produces its fruit all the time, by permission of its Lord. And Allah presents examples for the people that perhaps they will be reminded

  22. Quran Ar-Rahmaan · 55:6

    The stars and the trees prostrate to Allah.

    وَٱلنَّجۡمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ يَسۡجُدَانِ ۝٦

    And the stars and trees prostrate

  23. Tafsir Al-Mukhtasar fi Tafsir al-Quran · 13:3

    From every fruit Allah made two kinds, like male and female in animals.

    He, may He be glorified, is the One Who spread out the earth and created on it firm mountains so that it does not cause the people to become unsettled. From all types of fruit He made two kinds, like the male and female in animals. He draws the veil of night over the day so that it becomes dark after being bright. In that which is mentioned, there are signs and proof for a people who reflect and ponder over Allah’s creation, for they are the ones who benefit from such signs and proof.

  24. Tafsir Al-Mukhtasar fi Tafsir al-Quran · 51:49

    Examples of pairs include male and female, sky and earth, and land and sea.

    And of everything I have created two types, like the male and female, sky and earth, and the land and sea, so that you remember the oneness of Allah who created two types of everything and you remember His power.

  25. Hadith Sahih Muslim 2361
    Sahih Muslim

    The people of Madinah pollinated date palms by combining the male with the female tree.

    Musa b. Talha reported:I and Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) happened to pass by people near the date-palm trees. He (the Holy Prophet) said: What are these people doing? They said: They are grafting, i. e. they combine the male with the female (tree) and thus they yield more fruit. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: I do not find it to be of any use. The people were informed about it and they abandoned this practice. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) (was later) on informed (that the yield had dwindled), whereupon he said: If there is any use of it, then they should do it, for it was just a personal opinion of mine, and do not go after my personal opinion; but when I say to you anything on behalf of Allah, then do accept it, for I do not attribute lie to Allah, the Exalted and Glorious

    حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الثَّقَفِيُّ، وَأَبُو كَامِلٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ - وَتَقَارَبَا فِي اللَّفْظِ وَهَذَا حَدِيثُ قُتَيْبَةَ - قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ طَلْحَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ مَرَرْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِقَوْمٍ عَلَى رُءُوسِ النَّخْلِ فَقَالَ ‏"‏ مَا يَصْنَعُ هَؤُلاَءِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ فَقَالُوا يُلَقِّحُونَهُ يَجْعَلُونَ الذَّكَرَ فِي الأُنْثَى فَيَلْقَحُ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ مَا أَظُنُّ يُغْنِي ذَلِكَ شَيْئًا ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ فَأُخْبِرُوا بِذَلِكَ فَتَرَكُوهُ فَأُخْبِرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِذَلِكَ فَقَالَ ‏"‏ إِنْ كَانَ يَنْفَعُهُمْ ذَلِكَ فَلْيَصْنَعُوهُ فَإِنِّي إِنَّمَا ظَنَنْتُ ظَنًّا فَلاَ تُؤَاخِذُونِي بِالظَّنِّ وَلَكِنْ إِذَا حَدَّثْتُكُمْ عَنِ اللَّهِ شَيْئًا فَخُذُوا بِهِ فَإِنِّي لَنْ أَكْذِبَ عَلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

  26. Hadith Sahih al-Bukhari 2320
    Sahih Bukhari

    Any Muslim who plants a tree or sows seeds earns charity when a bird, person or animal eats from it.

    Narrated Anas bin Malik:Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "There is none amongst the Muslims who plants a tree or sows seeds, and then a bird, or a person or an animal eats from it, but is regarded as a charitable gift for him

    حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، ح وَحَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ "‏ مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ يَغْرِسُ غَرْسًا، أَوْ يَزْرَعُ زَرْعًا، فَيَأْكُلُ مِنْهُ طَيْرٌ أَوْ إِنْسَانٌ أَوْ بَهِيمَةٌ، إِلاَّ كَانَ لَهُ بِهِ صَدَقَةٌ ‏"‏‏.‏ وَقَالَ لَنَا مُسْلِمٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسٌ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم‏.‏

    The date palm, whose leaves do not fall, is like a Muslim.

    Narrated Ibn `Umar:Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Amongst the trees, there is a tree, the leaves of which do not fall and is like a Muslim. Tell me the name of that tree." Everybody started thinking about the trees of the desert areas. And I thought of the date-palm tree but felt shy to answer the others then asked, "What is that tree, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) ?" He replied, "It is the date-palm tree

    حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ إِنَّ مِنَ الشَّجَرِ شَجَرَةً لاَ يَسْقُطُ وَرَقُهَا، وَإِنَّهَا مَثَلُ الْمُسْلِمِ، فَحَدِّثُونِي مَا هِيَ ‏"‏‏.‏ فَوَقَعَ النَّاسُ فِي شَجَرِ الْبَوَادِي‏.‏ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَوَقَعَ فِي نَفْسِي أَنَّهَا النَّخْلَةُ، فَاسْتَحْيَيْتُ ثُمَّ قَالُوا حَدِّثْنَا مَا هِيَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ‏"‏ هِيَ النَّخْلَةُ ‏"‏‏.‏

    The believer is like a fresh plant that the wind bends and straightens.

    Narrated Ka`b:The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The example of a believer is that of a fresh tender plant, which the wind bends lt sometimes and some other time it makes it straight. And the example of a hypocrite is that of a pine tree which keeps straight till once it is uprooted suddenly

    حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏ "‏ مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ كَالْخَامَةِ مِنَ الزَّرْعِ تُفَيِّئُهَا الرِّيحُ مَرَّةً، وَتَعْدِلُهَا مَرَّةً، وَمَثَلُ الْمُنَافِقِ كَالأَرْزَةِ لاَ تَزَالُ حَتَّى يَكُونَ انْجِعَافُهَا مَرَّةً وَاحِدَةً ‏"‏‏.‏ وَقَالَ زَكَرِيَّاءُ حَدَّثَنِي سَعْدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ كَعْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، كَعْبٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم‏.‏
